These terms explain how you can use GLworm and how our licensing and payments work.
Last updated: August 18, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the GLworm Windows desktop application (the “App”) and the website at glworm.com (the “Site”), provided by GLworm (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App or the Site, you agree to these Terms.
Short version: GLworm analyses your recorded gameplay and cuts highlight clips, all on your own computer. The app itself is free to use with no time limit. Five capabilities are on a plan — automatic highlight detection, the Workshop, the storage limit with bulk cleanup, rendering several clips into one frame side by side, and building a vertical reel by hand — and a new account gets all five for 7 days. A Classic subscription through Stripe keeps detection running. Cancel any time — billing stops and your subscription runs to the end of the period you paid for. No refunds unless required by law.
GLworm is a Windows desktop application that analyses recorded gameplay and produces video clips, montages, vertical reels, and overlays from those recordings. Recordings, analysis, and generated clips are processed and stored locally on your computer — see the Privacy Policy.
Automatic highlight detection is available for the games we explicitly support, and that list may grow or change over time. Games you add yourself are available for tagging and organising your library, without automatic detection. We do not promise that detection will find every highlight or that it will be free of mistakes.
The App requires 64-bit Windows and an internet connection to sign in. It cannot be used without an account.
GLworm is distributed in two ways:
Both contain the same application. Subscriptions are purchased through this Site with Stripe in either case, not through the Microsoft Store.
A. Free
The application is free to use with no time limit. Importing recordings, trimming and extracting clips by hand, merging them, adding overlays and sound, creating vertical variants from the ready-made formats, playing and downloading: none of it requires a subscription, ever. Automatic highlight detection, the Workshop, the storage limit with bulk cleanup, rendering several clips into one frame side by side, and building a vertical reel by hand are the exceptions — a new account gets them for 7 days from the day the account was created, after which it requires a subscription and the rest of the application carries on unchanged.
B. Classic (Subscription)
A live Classic subscription keeps automatic highlight detection, the Workshop, and the storage limit and bulk cleanup available with no time limit.
Your exports are not watermarked. GLworm adds nothing to a clip you save, on any plan. The “Powered by GLworm.com” badge is available as a sticker you can place yourself in the editor, and it reaches a clip only if you put it there.
Plan features, limits, and pricing may be updated. Changes apply going forward and do not retroactively change what you have already paid for, unless required by law. Current pricing is on the Pricing page.
Your recordings and the clips GLworm makes from them are yours. The App does not upload them to us, and we claim no ownership of and no licence over them.
You are responsible for having the right to use the footage you process, and for how you share what you produce — including the rules of the games you record, the policies of the platforms you post to, and copyright law generally.
You agree not to:
You also agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App — except where that restriction is prohibited by applicable law, or where the licence of an open-source component included in the App permits it, including modifying and relinking those components for your own use as described in section 8.
GLworm includes third-party open-source software, including Qt and FFmpeg (both licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License), OpenCV, ONNX Runtime, DirectML, polyclipping, Tabler Icons, and the Inter typeface.
Those components are licensed to you under their own terms, and nothing in these Terms limits your rights under them. Where those terms conflict with these Terms, the component’s licence governs that component.
The LGPL gives you the right to replace the Qt and FFmpeg libraries with your own compatible builds and keep using GLworm. The installer published on this Site exists so that right is exercisable, because a Microsoft Store package is sandboxed and cannot offer it. Full attribution, the installer download link, replacement instructions, and our written offer for the material needed to relink are in the Open-Source Components section of the Privacy Policy.
The App and the Site, including software, design, and branding, are owned by GLworm and protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms and to section 8, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App.
We may add, change, or discontinue features, supported games, or the service itself. We may also release updated versions of the App, and some features may require you to be on a current version. We will not remove your ability to access clips you have already produced on your own computer.
The App and the Site are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, that highlight detection will be accurate, or that the App will meet your specific requirements. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of footage that matters to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GLworm will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of footage, loss of profits, or business interruption arising from your use of or inability to use the App or the Site.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the service. You may stop using the App at any time and uninstall it. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases, while the files on your own computer remain yours.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App or the Site after the update means you accept the revised Terms.
If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at support@glworm.com.
